Robert Ivy – Career and Lifetime Achievement Award

Long recognized as a leader in the architecture field, Robert Ivy has now been awarded with the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award by the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters. Traditionally given to those in artistic fields, Robert Ivy is the only person in the field of architect to receive this particular lifetime achievement award. Ivy is currently employed with the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Holding a leadership role, he is the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. While this is the first time Ivy is receiving the lifetime achievement award, it is not the first time he has been recognized as an outstanding example in the field of architecture. Robert Ivy was previously awarded the title of Master Architect by the national architecture fraternity Alpha Rho Chi, a prestigious title for anyone to achieve and one only given to a very select few individuals. In addition to this, he has also been awarded the Dean’s Medal from the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture. He has also been awarded the American Business Media’s Crain Award.

Robert Ivy has decades of experience in the architecture field. Many of the roles he has held have allowed him to work towards a goal of making the architecture field more understandable and available to the general public. Ivy started his career as Editor in Chief of Architectural Record prior to transitioning to the role of Vice President and Editorial Director of McGraw-Hill Construction Media. Under his leadership, the readership and growth of Architectural Record grew dramatically. While under his helm, the magazine received numerous awards and accolades.

Throughout his career, Robert Ivy has served as one of the most influential people in the field of architecture. He has helped to educate the general public regarding architecture as well as helped to keep those in the field of architecture informed of news and information regarding the industry. In receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ivy is being recognized for these outstanding accomplishments.
